When you think about oak flooring you will normally associate it with top quality. Oak is a very English hardwood that has been used to make all sorts of beautiful things over many years. It is the wood that you will see the most of in stately homes and it is renowned for its strength and durability. Cabinet makers have used it for centuries and it is used extensively for paneling.

It is easy to understand why so many people still choose to have oak flooring. It is elegant, extremely hard wearing and very impressive. When it is fitted in your home it will never go unnoticed and it will often be commented on by visitors. Hardwood floors have never gone 'out of fashion' and they will look just as good in many years to come. Oak has got its own special elegance and it will remain unaffected by its surroundings.

Oak flooring is actually available in a huge selection of styles. A lot of people tend to think that it is only on offer in one or two different shades. Whether you want to install it in a study, bedroom, dining room or lounge there is bound to be a colour that will be perfect for your room. The types of colour on offer include; Ash, Beech, Cherry, Hevea, Jatoba, Kempas, Maple, Merbau, Oak, Red Oak and Walnut. As you can imagine, this gives you an enormous amount of possibilities for the overall look of your room. The whole atmosphere can be transformed by the clever use of a certain shade.

Looking after oak flooring is a lot more straightforward than you would think; it does not require regular treatments. It is a good idea to attach felt pads to the feet of your furniture but apart from this it is a simple case of wiping it over with a damp cloth and vacuuming it. The only golden rule to abide by is that any spilled liquids need to be wiped up straight away; this is common practice with any type of hardwood floor. If your oak flooring does begin to look a little dull over a period of time, then there are many products for sale that will immediately restore its original shine. These are stocked by most suppliers of hardwood flooring and they are very reasonably priced.

If you want to find a company who supply oak flooring, then the internet is the best place to start your search. There are lots of websites that deal in nothing else and if you have any concerns they will be able to answer all your questions. Many of them stock a wide range of special tools and accessories that will make it far easier for you to install your flooring; ensuring that each of the panels is a perfect fit. Installation of your flooring is much easier than you would think and if you did have any difficulties then your supplier should be able to give you whatever help you need.

You want your hardwood floors to look good. It shows that you take pride in your home if the beauty of your hardwood floors is well maintained. It doesn't take complicated tools to clean your hardwood flooring. All it takes are good floor mops.

A well maintained and finely polished hardwood floor is a beautiful addition to any home. An ordinary home on the outside becomes an extraordinary home on the inside if you have hardwood floors that are immaculate. This sounds like too much work to a lot of folks; but if you use floor mops, you'll be working smarter, not harder.

To be honest, hardwood floors are a pain to keep looking beautiful once they've been left too long. They will become stained and damaged, showing every speck of dirt and dust. Every shoe mark and scuff will glare like a beacon to you. But, take heart, all is not lost and with a little effort and loving care, even hardwood in the worst state can be brought back to its original beauty and warmth. A USA manufacturer offers floor mops that are of the highest quality and all cotton which will make your dirtiest floors a breeze to clean.

You should always read the instructions from the floor manufacturer to see if it is safe to use a wet mop on your floor. Water can damage some floor surfaces and if it isn't recommended you can use dry floor mops. Of course there is no better cleaning tool for floors than a wet mop if it is safe. You can purchase several different types of durable and effective floor mops.

It's an easy decision to select a floor mop. Just remember one simple thing. Cotton; cotton is a superior material for mop heads and they are highly absorbent.

Now you have your durable, 100% cotton floor mop, get to work. You can bring out the shine in those hardwood floors. Moving in a figure eight pattern is very effective when you clean with wet floor mops. It also doesn't cause as much pressure on your joints or your back. Try using some cleaner or even a polish, applied with your floor mop. Just remember not to over polish and most floor cleaners and polishes have overpowering fumes. You don't want to use a lot to bring out your floors hidden beauty. Your floors will look like you worked for hours if you use good floor mops.

Carpentry is a skilled profession done by people called carpenters. It is basically working with wood to construct, repair or install wooden items in a building. These wooden items such as furniture, closets, cupboards, sideboards, doors, windows are carved out of wood and it involves manual labour done by the carpenter. There are various types of carpentry such as:

Finish carpentry: here the carpenter will specialize in furniture making, fine wood work, instrument making etc.

Trim carpentry: this carpentry specializes in moulding and trims such as mantels, baseboards, window and door casting.

Ship carpentry: this branch of carpentry specializes in ship building, its maintenance and repair methods and other carpentry specific to nautical needs.

Scenic carpentry: this branch of carpentry specializes in film making and the construction of sets, scenery and theatre builds.

Since carpentry is a skilled profession it is but obvious that it would need specific tools .The tools that are used in carpentry can be broadly classified into the following types:

STRIKING TOOLS

1. Tools that are used for striking only, as Hammers and Mallets

2. Tools that are used for striking and cutting, as Hatchets, Axes, Adzes, etc.

RASPING TOOLS OR TOOLS THAT ACT BY ABRASION

1. Saws of all kinds, for cutting wood.

2. Rasps and Files, for smoothing, shaping, cutting, etc.

PARING TOOLS OF ALL KINDS

1. Planes of various kinds, for smoothing, moulding, etc.

2. Spoke shaves and Drawing-knives.

3. Chisels and Gouges.

BORING TOOLS

1. Bradawls, Gimlets, and Augers.

2. Brace and Bit, sometimes called Stock and Bit.

HOLDING OR GRASPING TOOLS

1. Pincers and Pliers, Nippers, Spanners, and Wrenches.

2. The Vice, including Hand-vice, Bench Vice, etc.

TOOLS OF GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION

1. The Carpenter's Rule and Chalk Line.

2. The Square, Bevel, Gauge, Mortising Gauge, MITRE-Box.

3. Spirit Level, Straight Edge, Plumb and Level.

4. Compasses and Calipers.

MISCELLANEOUS TOOLS NOT SUBJECT TO CLASSIFICATION.

Screwdriver, Nail-Punch, Scriber, Reamer, etc.

With such a lot of tools, it is evident that carpentry is not something which everyone can do without getting trained in it formally.

These days, glass cabinets have become an ideal way to display ones precious items such as fine china items and other collectibles. Most of the display cabinets and glass cabinets are made up of wooden frames and have glass shelves. These cabinets come in the form of a corner unit, a wall unit or a full sized storage unit. The type of cabinet chosen depends on a person's taste and the items that one wants to store. Irrespective of the type of cabinet that one has, its care has to be taken properly.

One can follow the below mentioned instructions to take care of the glass cabinets:

One needs to clean the glass cabinet once or twice a week to keep the dust away as it has the tendency to let the dust accumulate on it faster.

One can polish the wood work present on the cabinet with lemon juice and olive oil mixed together. One requires dipping a soft cloth in this solution and then rubbing it down on the wood work. This removes the dirt present on the cabinet. After this one can simply remove the extra solution with the help of a dry cloth or a soft towel.

Cleaning of the exterior portion of the glass is also very important as dust accumulates on glass easily. If one has a display that has large amount of glass, then it is always suggested to keep the portion clean. One can spray vinegar on a cleaning or dusting cloth and then sprinkle a bit of water on the cloth to clean up the glass work. This solution is highly useful in removing the spots that occur due to dust on the glass.

One important thing that needs to be kept in mind when cleaning a glass cabinet is that it is required to remove the things presents on the shelves after a month or two and then clean. One has to pick up all the items displayed on the shelf and then clean them individually before placing them back on the cabinet.

There are many glass cleaning products available in the market, all one needs to do is to invest a bit of time is cleaning the cabinet to make it look more beautiful.

If one keeps the above mentioned tips in mind, then one can definitely have a nice looking, shining and clean glass cabinet enhancing the appearance of ones room. One most important tip that needs to be remembered is that glass work is quite delicate and needs to be taken care of in the same way.

Summary

Display cabinet are not used for the purpose of storage only as these days they are considered as elegant storage items that make the room appear stylish and elegant. These cabinets are available in various shapes and have a nice storage capacity. The only thing that needs to be taken care of is that they appear clean as they accumulate dust more than any other material.

The five biggest mistakes people make when home painting woodwork!!

Painting woodwork is probably the most fiddly and time consuming part of home painting. There is a lot to consider and a lot of preparation involved with your diy home painting. What I mean by woodwork are things like doors, frames, skirtings and the like. Now to the five biggest common mistakes when home painting your woodwork.

The first thing people think of is that the existing coat of paint unless your painting over varnishes or polyurethanes has to be taken back to bare wood or timber. This is not always the case. Do this only if it has badly broken down. If you're just changing colour and generally painting, a good solid rub down with sandpaper will do the trick.

Not undercoating with the correct product. An undercoat is designed to bind and seal the surface back to give you a neutral plane to work with,an undercoat can be called a platform builder.

Not using good quality paints and materials and I'm talking about finish coats now. Whether it be gloss enamel, satin or semi gloss good quality is always the best option. Buying the you bute special bonza paints that has probably been mixed in a high school science lab is NOT COOL MAN. Good quality enamels and let's not forget water based and environmentally produced paints and glosses are your best bet. Remember this! {quality products produce quality workmanship.}

The most crucial common mistake when home painting your woodwork is a bad quality BRUSH. The bottom line is, if your willing to use a broken stick as your finishing brush, expect your finish product to look like #!@$ also. A brush with a beautiful soft bristle and these days they make good quality synthetic ones that can handle the miles quite well, this is your best option, and these are the only types of brushes I use these days whether it be for oil or water based paints. For the beginner I suggest a 63 mm sashcutter. This type and size brush will cover all your bases.

So last but not least the number 5 mistake that people make when home painting woodwork is not forgetting steps 1 to 4. You have to have a system when doing woodwork then you can't go wrong. Prepare, undercoat and do your finish work, but introduce a system for yourself and keep repeating it. This way you're guaranteed not to forget things and make mistakes.

Remember home painting is all about repetition and doing the same job over and over again, you do this and you'll rip through your work with ease. Trust these diy painting tips helped you with your house painting. Catch guys and remember………..

HAPPY PAINTING……………Wayne the painter

This is new technology and design for a solid fuel heater. Dakota Stove is a wood stove / furnace that shows a more efficient way of producing heat. It is patent pending in USA, Canada and other countries. CONTACT at andrew.treeguy8891@yahoo.com I am the sole owner -Andrew Murray- of the patent and the technology. As the video says,” The video is for customer use for educating one self of my products I have for sale. Companies interested in the USE of the technology must pay for that right to use or further develop it. Protected by the patent is the use for the technology for a boiler, corn stove or any other type of appliance. The Dakota Stove is an example of how it works and why it is better. It is better because of the shape and the use of the special baffles. What is shown in this video is an actual wood stove / furnace being used. When I first started using this stove I had no idea it would put out as much heat as it did. I would figure 150000 btu. The Dakota Stove could be built a outdoor boiler. It would easily be better than what is being built now. With the straight vertical design of the fire box, the baffles work best with my shape. Most outdoor boilers are a cylinder laying on it’s side – try to put my “patent pending baffle” in to one of those stoves. IT WON’T WORK BECAUSE OF THEIR SHAPE!
