Finishing Hardwood Floors – Andy Bell of Handyman Matters discusses installing hardwood flooring and the transition moldings. Andy installs the transition piece, sets the screws and makes sure that the door lines up perfectly and closes smoothly. Then he applies a polyurethane sealant to protect the transition piece from weather. This simple installation creates a seal between the inside and outside. When installing Threshold moldings, it is important not to attach the molding directly to the hardwood floor as the hardwood floor must-be able to expand or contract under the lip of the molding per the manufacturers recommendations.
